Echo Lake Resort Canada Day Long Weekend

All smiles here 🙂

Summer has officially started here at Echo Lake Resort! The forecast is telling us some blue skies and heat is expected for the next while so to all our guests staying with us this summer.. don’t forget the SPF ;).

Just wanted to touch base with all guests who are inquiring for our summer season. As of July and August we will no longer be accepting reservation requests over the phone. We will still be accepting calls from guests who are calling in their information to confirm a booking made by email.

As we have JUST finished the Long Weekend, we wanted to send out a special THANK YOU to our guests who stayed with us! This past weekend was a dream – the weather was perfect, the family games were happening, and the resort was filled with laughter! It was great to see so many families having fun together and getting to know their neighbours. And let’s not forget the show of patriotism…. the resort was FILLED with Canadian flags everywhere!! Absolutely awesome!!

Here’s just a few shots of our eventful weekend 🙂

Looking like a beauty 19 degrees on Friday and only going up from there (does it say 26 degrees on Saturday???).

When packing, keep in mind we stocked ourselves with emergency hotdogs and condiments, more snack food then you can imagine and added some camping accessories that are usually forgotten so JUST IN CASE you forgot something…. we got your back!

For those guests who call and found that they’re are no spots available for their required dates, don’t be shy to ask to be put on the cancellation list. Whenever a cabin or site opens up, we make sure to go through our cancellation list and if no takers, we then put it on our Facebook page. Hello March

Oh March. . .

The beginning of months where we begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel from the cold, dark and snowy days. The sun is sticking around a bit longer and some days you may actually feel warmth from the sun!

Up here in the mountains, Echo Lake Resort has awoken from its hibernation. Projects are underway and plans are being made on how we can make this the most comfortable and family fun season yet!

We decided at the end of last season that we needed to add a couple more cabins to our roster. So without further ado we introduce to you Cabin 8 and Cabin 9!

Beginning of building cabin 8

These cabins are perfect for a small family or group of friends interested in camping but rather not camp in a tent (think morning condensation).Side view of cabin 8

Both these cabins are ‘Camping Cabins’ and before you go “what are camping cabins??”, give us one moment to give you the deets of these two beauties.

Cabin 8 and Cabin 9 are basically cabins that you remember as a child (for anyone that is born before the 90’s). That means beds, chairs, tables and other basics are included in the cabin, although you do have to do somethings the classic way, so to speak. That means no running water or electricity and washing your dishes in a bucket (as you would camping), also bringing along your portable stove and/or BBQ and cooking utensils. A fire pit is also right outside the cabin for you and your friends and family to enjoy!

We have to admit, these cabins have pretty awesome partial-lake views. With a large bay window facing out towards the lake, this offers beautiful scenery from the moment you wake up. They are also placed in a location where there’s a small shortcut to the beach making it easily accessible!

We are just in the final steps of completing these cabins and when we are fully completed we will post pictures immediately! You’re also welcome to book ahead of time, just mention at the bottom (in notes) that you are also interested in our camping cabins.

ALSO

Speaking of bookings, for all those guests who have booked for this season we will now begin callbacks to confirm your reservations.

We will be calling beginning of this week between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday (nobody enjoys a phone call during dinner, amiright?). If we miss you please be sure to call us at your earliest convenience as your reservation will not be fully confirmed until we have spoken to you!

That’s all for now! We are looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces soon:)

A End of Season Farewell!

Hey everyone,

We are now into our final month of the 2016 season and what a season it has been! Thanks to all those return guests it was great to see you and your families smiling faces once again and to all those new comers a big thanks for choosing us as your vacation destination.

The leaves have changed and frost and snow are on their way as the sun begins to fall behind the mountains earlier and earlier. Our gates will be open for the next week and a while until the 21st of October for cabin/campsites/boat rentals. If you are interested in any dates beyond the 21st please inquire. As although the gates will be closed for a resort wide scheduled maintenance, the duration is uncertain. So if we can get you in we will!! For the most part our office hours will begin to dwindle as the outdoor projects pick up into the winter – so if you are looking to get ahold of us the phone line will unlikely do the trick therefor your best bet is visiting our website and filling out a request availability form or sending in a general inquiry by email to the address on the webpage.

On another note – Congratulations to Mr. Thomas Robidoux and his accomplice Red for Fish of the Year! and very likely Fish of our family’s time here at Echo Lake Resort! A whopping 31 inch, 13 lb Gerrard Rainbow caught on October 9th mid day – but sorry folks what was used was specifically noted classified information by the angler himself.

Thomas Robidoux 2

Ain’t she a beaut’….

Red

Happiest Man on the Planet..

Thomas Robidoux

What do you suppose he’s thankful for…

Thanks again for another awesome season and we look forward to seeing you all again next year! Wishing you all tight lines – Echo Lake Resort Team

September Cabin Availability, Fishing Updates, and More!

Echo Lake Resort in September

What a change!

From the wild laughter of children splashing and playing in the sun and water to such silence it’s almost possible to hear the leaves falling to the ground. Wonderful Fall has most definitely arrived at Echo Lake Resort.

If you have never experienced a Fall season here at Echo Lake Resort, then you should most definitely take this into consideration for a bit of R&R.

Echo Lake Resort offers a variety of lakefront cabins, several offering wood fire heating (perfect for those who want to experience the cozier version being “off-the-grid”). Nothing is as quite relaxing as grabbing a warm beverage and heading out to your private deck or dock to view the changing colours of our gorgeous three peak mountains.

We recommend to all amateur or professional painters, photographers, or writers who are in search of location that offers inspiration, relaxation, and private mediation to consider Echo Lake Resort to be your home away from home!

Also, this time of season is incredible for fishing! Over the last couple weeks, we’ve had a surprisingly fast change over in fishing tactics. From trolling the wedding band with bait about 25-50ft minimum, to a switch of successful catches using flies. Guessing with the sudden change in temperature, the fish have been returning back to the surface!

So to all those fisherman who are looking for some great catches, be sure to check out Echo Lake Resort! We have a variety of species of fish to choose from, such as: Kokanee, Gerrard, Rainbow, and Lake Trout. Our lake has a 10hp maximum, but you are more then welcome to rent one of our cabins and dock your boat right at your very own private cabin!

If you do want to fish but don’t wanna drag your boat with you, we do have boat rentals available at the resort! You can reserve whether your staying with us or not. All you need is a driver’s license and a credit card to have on file (or $250 cash deposit). If you need tackle, no worries! We have a tackle shop located here at Echo Lake Resort specifically made for our lake! Gumphyus Nymph? We got it! Pumpkin Heads? Got that too! And all at a reasonable price **cough cough** apparently cheaper then most retailers **cough cough**.

Now, lets get to the good stuff.. What cabin would you like for your relaxing fall vacation?

If any of these dates catch your eye, go to our Request Availability page, fill out the request form and we will get back to you as soon as possible! Please keep in mind that we operate on a “first come, first serve” basis and cannot block off any available dates without proper and adequate confirmation. If any of the above mentioned dates may interest you, please be in touch as soon as possible so we may secure for you the requested cabins and dates.

Fall Cabin Anyone?

Echo Lake Resort Night Sky

What?! Is it already mid-August!? Where did the time go!?

Echo Lake Resort has been cah-razy busy over the several weeks thanks to all this darn (month late) sunshine and heat! But can’t be too upset over this slightly cool summer as it is providing us with some pretty sweet perks. Don’t believe us? Say that when your sitting around your campfire when your out camping with us.. because it’s mid-August in the Okanagan and there is STILL NO FIRE BAN. Most folks also know that July and August are our hottest months and the fishing goes from fairly good to super tough (the fish get super deep to avoid the warmth). But again, with the cooler weather, guests are having some preetttyyy good catches even in these summer months!

While talking about this volatile cooler summer weather, we would like to make a small shout out to all our tenters out there.. because we have had some resilient, committed campers who have weathered out these small storms that we’ve been received and actually made the best of a not-so-ideal situation. Take a bow for those who are reading this and know you lived through those windy and/or rainy days.. because you impressed us here:)

Regarding our cabins this year,

We are now fully booked for August unless you are looking for some dates (mid-week) at the end of the month for Cabin 7 *cough cough* spontaneous romantic get-away anyone? *cough cough*. We are also fully booked for the September Long weekend for those inquiring for those dates. But, we are going to post all of our September cabin availability for those who are looking for specific dates. If any of these dates catch your eye, go to our Request Availability page, fill out the request form and we will get back to you as soon as possible! Please keep in mind that we operate on a “first come, first serve” basis and cannot block off any available dates without proper and adequate confirmation. Before you start thinking about Fall cabins, we should probably let you know that it is absolutely gorgeous up here in the fall. Beginning of September still feels like summer but by the end of the month when the leaves begin to change colour.. that’s when the resort is really quite stunning (for amateur or professional photographers this is definitely something you do not want to miss). Nothing feels quite as good as good for a brisk walk and then settling down with a good book by the fire (glass of wine optional). Definitely something to think about for those guests interested in a quiet fall break 🙂

Now, if you’re interested in any of our cabins, be sure to check them out on the cabins page. We have floor plans for each and every cabin and prices listed close by in case you feel an adventure calling you!

To reiterate, we operate on a “first come, first serve” basis and cannot block off any available dates without proper and adequate confirmation. So be sure to head to our booking page on the Echo Lake Resort website and we will try to reserve your cabin as soon as possible!

Alright, thats it for this week! Hope you all enjoyed your week so far and we hope some of you guys were able to catch the Perseid meteor shower that happened over the last couple days. We know several of our guests got some beauty shots of our wonderful night sky during the event. Looking forward to seeing the final edit!

Oh Hey Sunshine!

This has got to be the CAH-raziest July we’ve ever seen up here at Echo Lake Resort!

Seeing as how we’re approx. 2500ft in elevation, we’re curious if the rest of the Okanagan is experiencing this weather?? Needless to say, we can’t complain too much because as a pro it’s been a long time since the Okanagan has been able to experience a campfire in July!

That’s right, still no fire ban. Which means, you need to grab your camping gear before it’s too late!!! Always be sure to check the government website and stay updated when figuring out the dates that you would like to camp out. Just head to the BC Government Wild Fire Status Website. If you choose to bring your own firewood, please know that is TOTALLY A-OKAY. Just keep in mind that we do supply wood bundles (and kindling) for guests who do need firewood for their campfire!

Okay, enough about the weather. Let’s get down to business. For the month of July we are FULLY booked for cabins. Now don’t get discouraged if you didn’t catch a cabin this month, because August still have some availability for cabins!!

There is literally only two spots left this summer. We have Cabin 2 available from Monday, August 22 until Friday, August 26 (4 nights). OR Cabin 7 (if you want more info on Cabin 7, check out the blog entry Summer Sunshine and Beautiful Cabin 7!) available Sunday, August 28 until September 2 (4 nights).

SO tell your family, tell your friends, and tell your neighbors that we still have amazing cabins available for the hot hot August month!! If your interested in these dates and cabins, just head to our Request Availability page and fill out a request form with those specific dates. Bonus points if you say you read about this info through our blog!

Another thing we’d like to let our guests know about it is Echo Lake Resort has finally received their shipment of rad tanks, hats, and shirts!! Represent Echo Lake Resort where ever you go and share the good word of you favorite summertime memories here!

Big thank you to our guests in Cabin 3 who modeled our gear during their visit and can we just say, you guys are looking SHARP!!

Echo Lake Resort NEW Mens Tank!

Echo Lake Resort NEW Men’s Tank!

We have a supply of awesome men’s and women’s tops available at front desk! So if your hoping to avoid the infamous farmers tan this summer, be sure to stop in and purchase one of these beauties before they’re all gone!!

Also, we have a restock of our popular Echo Lake Resort hats! Now these beauties come in black AND navy blue, just to add more choice to your day:)

Heads up for all our campers wondering about our availability. At this time, July and August mid-week is looking pretty open although weekends are filling up FAST. Be sure to head to our Request Availability page and send us a form asap. Our reservation system works on a first-come, first-serve basis so we cannot guarantee the spots will be around for long!

That’s all for this week folks, time for us to head out and enjoy this sunshine while its around. Wishing you all an amazing week and if your staying with us soon, we’re looking forward to seeing you!

Oh Glorious Canada Day Long Weekend!

Echo Lake Resort Long Weekend

Yes! Finally the weekend to celebrate all things Canadian!!

We honestly cannot describe to you how much we’ve been looking forward to this weekend (we’re sure you are too!). Things to look forward to this weekend: family campfires (S’moreessss galore!), warm emerald waters (perfect for swimming), hot hot Okanagan heat, a beautiful display of Canadian spirit by neighbours
,.. this list could go on for a while!

For those who are interested in staying with us this weekend, unfortunately, we are fully booked for BOTH cabins and campgrounds! BUT if you were really really looking forward to spending a Canada Day Long Weekend with us, keep in mind that we are accepting reservations for next year! So you can beat the crowds and reserve your spot anytime! Just head to our Request Availability page and fill out an arrival date for 2017!

For those guests who did reserve this year, we do have a few important notices to let you know about!
First off, at this time there is no campfire ban BUT do keep yourself up to date by visiting the BC Government Wild Fire Status Website to ensure you don’t miss any important changes! If you choose to bring your own firewood, please know that is TOTALLY A-OKAY. Just keep in mind that we do supply wood bundles (and kindling) for guests who do need firewood for their campfire! Also, PLEASE BE AWARE that unfortunately we are unable to host or allow any fireworks for this weekend due to risk of forest fires! But please do not be shy in bringing the Canadian flags, stickers, facepaint, etc!

Second, as a reminder to all our guests, we will be closing our gates at 10:00pm. If you are likely to check in late please be sure to send us a quick email or call us so we are sure to get you into your camp spot or cabin! This weekend is crazy busy, so to reduce traffic jams and such we are not offering any day use sites or day parking!

And LASTLY, if you were hoping to rent a boat this weekend PLEASE call ahead to reserve one as we only have a couple left! If you are bringing your own boat and you are staying with us.. then boat launch is free! Just keep in mind your motor must be either electric OR below 10HP. For those who are using the boat launch but are not staying with us, same rules apply regarding motor power but there is also a $5 parking and boat launch fee.

If you are interested in any further availability for cabins this summer, check out last weeks blog as it has posted all our remaining summer openings!

OKAY, that is all for this week! Again, we are SO pumped to see so many happy faces this weekend and cannot wait to celebrate Canada Day with you all!!

P.S we have included a picture below to give you a preview of your weekend! Please prepare to enjoy yourself!

Echo Lake Resort BC

Let The Summer Season Begin!!

Echo Lake Resort Summer Camping
What a wonderful weekend! Honestly, time seems to be flying here and it’s getting harder to stop and really smell the roses ( or in our case, wood smoke and pine trees).

We had an amazing group of guests come in to celebrate Father’s Day weekend, and needless to say there was some great fishing to be had! Latest update was a 3lb Gerrard caught right off one of our docks!

Also, as a side note, big shout out to our guests who toughed out the rain last weekend. We had some full on camping enthusiasts out here and it was great to hear families still laughing and having fun regardless of the weather!

Speaking of the weather, we think its safe to say that we may be coming out of the rainy season here. We got 26-31 degrees on our calendars for this weekend and next week and honestly we could not be more happy! If you haven’t already booked with us for our campsites, get on it! We are on the final count down until the fire ban is on!! So bring the smore’s, hot dogs, and any other campfire fixings and let’s enjoy a night around the fire! (If you don’t have fire wood, don’t stress it as we offer fairly large bundles for $5.00). If you would like to check on the current fire ban restrictions Press Here.

For our Canada Day Long Weekend guests, please be advised that we are unable to have any fireworks at our resort. Reason being is that we are completely surrounded by trees and with the lake being so narrow, we wouldn’t want to risk having a forest fire. That being said, we are keeping an eye out for the family that shows the greatest Canadian Spirit! This includes banners, stickers, flags, and so on (the sky is truly the limit)!

Lastly, we have had so many great guests contacting us about our remaining cabin availability for this summer! So we have decided to list all that is left for our 2016 summer season. If any of these dates catch your eye, go to our booking page, fill out the Request Form and we will get back to you as soon as possible! Please keep in mind that we operate on a “first come, first serve” basis and cannot block off any available dates without proper and adequate confirmation. If any of the above mentioned dates may interest you, please be in touch as soon as possible so we may secure for you the requested cabins and dates.
