Responsible Pet Owners are welcome to bring their four-legged family members to Echo Lake Resort! We understand how challenging it can be to board your pets and how enjoyable it can be to bring well trained pets camping. We also need to balance the enjoyment of all campers while keeping the campground clean and safe.

Echo Lake Resort is within a BC Provincial Park and as such, pet owners must have pets restrained and under control at all times as per BC Parks laws. There is NO OFF LEASH AREA at the Resort and we do not have a dog park.

Keeping pets safe in nature is one of our top priorities, owners must ensure their pets and wildlife (coyotes, eagles, skunks, beavers, raccoons and bears) have minimal interaction. Please do not underestimate the attraction your small pet holds for wild animals, stay vigilant and look up!

We strongly recommend booking your pet at the same time you book your accommodation. Our online booking system will ask for your pet’s name, age, breed, whether neutered/spayed, microchipped and general health. We reserve the right to limit the number of pets, and this may mean we do not have capacity to allow extra pets once that limit has been reached.

Pets that you can bring: dogs and cats

After a season of great customer and staff feedback, we are limiting ‘pets’ to include dogs and cats. Please do not bring birds, reptiles, or other animals. If you have any questions about what pets are allowed to come to the Resort, email us at info@echolakeresort.ca.

If you decide after booking to bring a pet, make sure to follow up with us before arriving as we may already have reached our pet capacity.

Fees:

  • $10/ night per pet.
  • Max 2 pets per Campsite or Cabin.
  • Cabins have a $28 fee, including taxes, per stay for extra cleaning time. Cabins are ‘housekeeping’ and must be clean & tidy which means visible hair/fur must be removed from furniture, swept off the floor, and disposed of in the garbage can outside.
  • Your account will be charged for the repair or replacement cost for any damage caused to the Cabin by your pet.

Everyone bringing a pet will be responsible for:

  • Keeping their pet leashed (with collar & id tag), under control (no dragging leashes) and well-behaved.
  • Picking up pet poop, bagging it and using signed garbage receptacles.
  • Managing pet food so that it is not left outside to attract wild animals.
  • Pets cannot be left alone inside at Campsites or Cabins, please plan to take them fishing or have someone with them at all times.
  • We ask campers to consider the inside temperatures of their tents/trailers during summer as they quickly heat up to unsafe levels. As air conditioners are NOT allowed, if you bring a pet, you must be prepared to manage higher temperatures.

For dog owners:

  • You MUST bring bags to dispose of dog waste. There is no exception to using poo bags as it greatly reduces the chances of wildlife getting into garbage cans.
  • Dogs must be on leash or secured to a fixed lead line that is no longer than the footprint of your Campsite or Cabin area. Other guests do not want to visit with your dog at their cabin or campsite.
  • Dogs may swim unleashed directly at a Cabin or Campsite rented by their owner while under their direct supervision.
  • Dogs may NOT swim unleashed at the main Swim Dock, it is a small area meant for the enjoyment of every guest, many of whom do not want to swim with your dog.
  • Dogs always want to play and may require more exercise while on leash, however there is NO exception to the leash rule and we understand that for some dogs, Echo Lake Resort may not be the best fit.

For cat owners:

  • We understand cats may be used to staying entirely inside your trailer, however, to have a pet at Echo Lake Resort means you will need to pay the nightly fee the same as a dog owner.
  • ‘Catios’ are encouraged as long as they are fully enclosed for the safety of your pet.
  • Do NOT dispose of used cat litter in our garbage cans, please only deposit bagged waste.
  • The use of litter boxes in cabins is allowed, however as part of the ‘housekeeping’ arrangement of using our cabins, you must clean up any scattered litter before checking out.

Fines:

Owners will be charged if they do not pick up their pet’s poop or who leave pets unattended.

We love pets at Echo Lake Resort and our goal is to manage the privilege of guests bringing their ‘fur kids’, however for over 30 years, the resort was ‘no pets’. As dog owners ourselves, we understand the responsibility of balancing having pets on the resort with maintaining a pristine environment is on us and those bringing pets. We will address every issue promptly and fairly, and expect our customers to communicate respectfully with each other when issues arise, using common sense and having tolerance for the occasional mistake.

Echo Lake Resort reserves the right to require immediate removal of any pet that displays dangerous or unacceptable behaviour, including, but not limited to, biting, excessive noise, barking or evidence of disease.
